Leopard takes away minor girl in Uri, Baramulla

A 6-year-old girl was picked up by leopard in Gawashar area of  Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Family sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Friday evening, Munazah daughter of Imran Beigh resident of Gawashar, Boniyar in Uri was to picked up by a leopard.

Mir Khursheed, BDC Bijhama, said that the leopard has taken away a minor girl around Magrib time in the Gawashar area.

He also said that the locals along with other departments have launched a search operation to trace the minor girl.

A Wildlife official told The Kashmiriyat that they have deputed a team to the area. He said that during night hours it will be difficult to carry out operation as this this forest area.

Meanwhile, A police official confirmed the incident to The Kashmiriyat. He said “I have sent a joint party of police n wildlife officials.”
