Libyan pilgrim’s faith halts plane twice to ensure he boards for Hajj

What began as a routine pilgrimage transformed into an extraordinary story of faith, perseverance, and destiny for Amer Al Mahdi Mansour Al Gaddafi, a young Libyan man determined to fulfill his lifelong spiritual dream of performing Hajj this year.

However, his journey hit an unexpected roadblock at the airport. Immigration officials detained Amer due to security concerns linked to his surname—“Al Gaddafi.” Despite the fact that his group was allowed to board the plane, Amer was held back. His repeated pleas to join the flight were ignored, and the plane departed without him. The captain cited security protocols and strict schedules as reasons for leaving him behind.

But fate had other plans.

Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft experienced a technical fault forcing it to return to the airport. After repairs, the plane attempted to take off again but encountered a second malfunction that required an emergency landing. Following this second failure, the captain made a heartfelt and unexpected announcement to the passengers: “I swear I won’t fly again unless Amer is with us on this plane.”

Moved by the captain’s declaration, authorities cleared Amer for travel. On the third attempt—with Amer now on board—the flight finally departed and landed safely in Saudi Arabia without further incident.

Amer’s story has since captured widespread attention across social media platforms. Many have hailed it as a powerful example of divine will and the strength of unwavering belief.

“I only wanted to go to Hajj,” Amer told local media. “And I believed that if it was written for me, no force on earth could stop it.”
