Light snow likely over higher reaches of Jammu Kashmir on December 12: MeT

The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast dry weather across Jammu Kashmir until December 11, However, light snowfall is expected over isolated higher reaches of the region on December 12.

The department has advised tourists, travelers, and transporters to adhere to traffic advisories issued by the administration and relevant authorities to ensure safety.

A MeT official stated that weather conditions on December 7 are expected to remain generally dry. From December 8 to 9, the region may experience cloudy skies with light rain over parts of the Jammu division plains and hilly areas.

Light rain and snow may also occur in higher reaches of Kashmir during the late evening and night hours of December 8-9.

Dry weather conditions are predicted to return from December 10 to 12, However, on December 12, there is a likelihood of generally cloudy skies with light snowfall over isolated higher reaches. From December 13 to 17, the weather is expected to remain dry across the region.

The MeT department has urged residents and visitors to stay updated with advisories to ensure safe travel, especially in areas prone to snow and icy conditions.
