Locals in Tungloo Manzmoo Bakerwal Check area of Qazigund in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday staged a protest against the failure of the  authorities for their failure to complete the construction work on a bridge from last two years.

The Government had started construction work on the bridge at Tunjloo road some two years ago under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

The slow pace of work has hampered inhabitants of this area as the construction material keeps on lying inside the bridge.

“The bridge connects at least five villages via Kapran-verinag and also it connected with  kulgam-Shopian road,

We have  approached with  concerned officials number of times but all we  got was the Void repeated assurances,” a Local told The Kashmiriyat.

“We face immense hardships especially patients and children, they have to walk miles to reach their destinations”, they said, while appealing the District Adminstration as well as R&B department to restart construction work on bridge so that problem is resolved as soon as possible.

The Kashmiriyat appraised the issue with the Executive engineer R&B, Basharat Jaleel who said, “there was some dispute on land and we have approached the Concerned Tehsildar, once the issue is solved we will restart construction work on the bridge and it will take around ten days to complete it.”
