Power outages occur ten times a day in our area especially during peak hours in evening which has added to people’s worries, locals told The Kashmiriyat.

“We live under darkness and the severe lack of electricity supply has affected students in the area as they are forced to study under candlelight,” Mohammed Shafi, a local said.

Meanwhile, the locals appealed to the higher ups to look into the matter and resolve their genuine demands at an earliest so that they can heave a sigh of relief.

Superintending Engineer (SE), KPDCL South Circle, Muzaffar Ahmad Lone, upon being contacted said, “Frequent cuts occur due to extreme load shedding people are using crude heating gadgets during winters which are causing power cuts,” adding “If people will use the supply as advised by the department there will be no power outages.”

The officer further said the department is taking all measures to provide electricity as per the schedule. “Teams are on the ground who are checking the illegal use of power supply in various areas” he said
