Locals of the Shia Community from Gund khawaja Qasim Pattan staged a peaceful protest against the senior Shia leader, Abid Hussain Ansari at press colony in Srinagar, alleging him of illegally occupying Imam Bada.
The protesting residents of Gund Khawaja Qasim were chanting pro-justice slogans.
Shanawaz Hussain Dar, a local told The Kashmiriyat that the residents sacrificed everything for the construction of Imam bada. “The women of the area had sold their jewellery and other precious resources for the Imam Bada andnow he wants to occupy it,” he said.
The locals alleged that Abid Hussain Ansari wants occupy it illegally. “We are being suppressed and being booked under FIRs, educated youth is being targeted,” he added.
They further alleged that supporters of Abid Ansari had ransacked the properties of the locals and have appealed to the administration to take a serious action against the problem.
However, The Kashmiriyat contacted Abid Ansari and he alleged that SSP Baramullah is behind the whole thing. He added that the protest is to divert attention from the reality.
“I had raised some concerns against SSP Baramulla and DC Baramulla, these are his supporters who are protesting against me,” he added.
“Those who have assembled at press enclave against me, their sons are mostly SPOs recruited by SSP Baramulla,” he alleged.
However, the angry protesters at press colony alleged that they have been exploited by the supporters of Abid Ansari.
