Scores of women of Pati Shallabugh area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Monday held a protest at Ganderbal against the water scarcity in their area.
The female protesters raised slogans against the PHE Department for failing to provide uninterrupted water supply to their area.
A lady protester speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that they are without water for the last two years and are forced to drink contaminated water. “There are apprehensions of the outbreak of water-borne diseases,” she said.
Locals appealed the higher-ups to look into the matter at the earliest so that they can breathe a sigh of relief.
Later SHO Ganderbal Manzoor Ahmed reached the spot and pacified the protestors by assuring them that their problem will be taken up with concerned authorities for redressal.
