Hundreds of Residents of Shartpora area in Lolab belt of Kupwara in North Kashmir on Monday protested against the alleged desceration of mosque and Quran in the area.
Claiming that copies of holy Quran and an adjacent mosque were set ablaze during night hours which they found during the time of Fajr (Dawn) prayers.
As the news of the incident spread, hundreds of people stormed out of their houses and staged protests in the area to demand stern punishment to the culprits.
Meanwhile officials rushed to the spot and assured the locals that the incident will be probed thoroughly.
