
To address the rising concern of suicide attempts, the Srinagar Administration has initiated a project to install fencing along the sides of major bridges in the city.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, stated that this measure aims to protect lives and has already begun.
The fencing project includes the following allocations: Rs 19 lakh each for the Nawa Kadal and Fateh Kadal bridges; Rs 9 lakh for the Gow Kadal bridge; and Rs 29 lakh for the Safakadal bridge. Additionally, the fencing for Noor Jahan Bridge over the Jhelum River at Qamarwari is set to be completed at a cost of Rs 11 lakh.
