
The Jammu Kashmir Police on Sunday said that a civilian was unhurt after militants fired upon him in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
In a handout to GNS, the police said that police in Shopian received an information about a militant crime incident at Heerpora area of Shopian.
Senior police officers reached at the militant crime spot to ascertain the facts.
The spokesperson further stated that preliminary investigation revealed that militant had fired upon a civilian namely Waseem Ahmad Wani son of Mohammad Amin resident of Heerpora at Main Bazar Heerpora area of Shopian.
However, the militants missed the intended target and he escaped unhurt. In this militant incident, the bullets hit the nearby parked vehicle (swift) bearing registration number JK22A-4422.
Regarding the incident, a case vide FIR No. 116/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Heerpora and investigation has been initiated, reads the statement. (GNS)
