Three persons were injured and several were injured when a man reportedly drunk attacked several persons in the Litroo area of Aishmuqam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Locals told The Kashmiriyat that one man identified as Javid Hassan Rather, at around 5 AM on Friday, attacked several people with a sharp object in the Litroo area in Aishmuqam.
They said that Javid initially attacked his family and then went on to attack everyone outside with a sharp object.
At least eight people were injured in the attack, while three identified Ghulam Nabi Khadim, Hajira Banoo, and Mohammed Amin Shah died on the way to the hospital, they said.
The locals said that the deceased include his mother, while his father who was critically injured during the attack is being treated at Primary Health Care Center in Aishmuqam.
“Javid works as a baker in Pahalgam. He was drunk and attacked everyone who he saw,” said the locals who caught hold of him, before he was handed over to the Police.
An official speaking to The Kashmiriyat that early morning today, he attacked his family and then left towards to the Aishmuqam town. “He attacked everyone who he saw on the way to the Aishmuqam town. As of now, we know that he had been consuming a lot of alcohol,” he said.
He said that eight people who were injured during the attack are being treated at a nearby hospital.
The official said that Javid Hassan Rather, the accused, has been arrested by the local Police. “The bodies have been taken for post-mortem after which the bodies will be handed over to their legal heirs,” the official told The Kashmiriyat.
