The former president of Jamia Masjid Shopian, Master Nazir Ahmed Khan breathed his last on Sunday evening after a brief illness.
Locals told The Kashmiriyat that Nazir Ahmed Khan who fought for protecting the genuine interests of Jamia Masjid shopian breathed his last yesterday at SKIMS.
Many social and religious organizations have expressed grief over his demise.
“The deceased was pious and embodiment of many virtues and as such his death has been mourned by a large section of society,” Mufti Tariq who is a renowned preacher of Shopian district said.
Besides him many other religious scholars and politicians including the MLA Shopian Advocate Muhammad Yousuf Bhat condoled his demise.
Nazir Ahmad Khan was President of Jamia Masjid Auqaf Committee Shopian from 1999 to 2014.
