Locals told The Kashmiriyat that around 2:56 AM, flames emerged out of a residential house in the congested Dangerpora area of Anantnag which soon spread to the nearby houses.
They said that dozens of structures including houses and shops have been gutted in the overnight blaze.
Meanwhile an official of the Fire and Emergency Department told The Kashmiriyat that fire tenders in huge numbers reached the spot to douse off the flames.
“Due to the congested nature of the locality, the fire could not be stopped before it had damaged 13 houses and 10 shops in the area, however, property worth billions was saved by the fire tenders,” the official said.
He said that the estimate of the loss has not been taken as of yet.
