Day after LG’s claim, Media disallowed from entering Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s residence in Srinagar

A day after LG Manoj Sinha’s claims that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was not under detention, the police personnel deployed in large numbers outside Mirwaiz’s house barred media from entering his residence.

Several journalists who tried to enter the residence of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at Nigeen area in Srinagar were stopped by the Government force personnel disallowed media to enter the house of Mirwaiz e Kashmir.

“Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s residence at Nigeen continues to be under deployment of police. Officials are not allowing press inside saying ‘we are here for security only’,” Ubeer said on his twitter.

Pertinently LG Manoj Sinha had claimed that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was not under arrested and the police personnel are deployed outside his house for his “Security.”

The Hurriyat responded to the claim stating that if Mirwaiz was not under arrest, he should be allowed to lead the Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid Srinagar. “He has not been allowed to lead prayers in Jamia Srinagar for the past three years,” Hurriyat said in its statement.

Meanwhile the Former Chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti said that the claim of the LG as a “bald Lie.” In her tweet, she said, “Bald faced lie. GOI is simply intolerant of every contrarian opinion. If Mirwaiz isn’t under house arrest, then he should be allowed to discharge his religious duties. Admin should walk the talk by letting him deliver next Friday’s sermon at Jama Masjid.”
