A day after Congress Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party alleged a security lapse, Bharat Jodo Yatra resumed on Saturday from the Awantipora area of south Kashmir Pulwama district amid tight security arrangements.
An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said the Yatra resumed from the Chersoo area of Awantipora today morning.
He said former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, her daughter Iltija Mufti and her mother also joined the Yatra at Awantipora.
Rahul Gandhi’s sister and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi along with other Congress leaders joined the Yatra near Lethpora.
Meanwhile, a party insider told KNO that Yatra will end at Pantha Chowk truck yard today and will resume tomorrow from the same spot.
Officials said tight security arrangements have been put in place to ensure hassle free movement of the Yatra.
