
The Meteorological Department on Monday predicted isolated to scattered rain and thundershowers across Jammu Kashmir until June 20.
A stronger weather system is expected to move in between June 21 and 23, bringing widespread rainfall, thundershowers, and overcast skies to much of the region.
Over the past 24 hours, the Jammu region experienced fairly widespread rainfall accompanied by thunder and gusty winds. Jammu city alone recorded 46.0 mm of rain during this period.
Despite the rain, both day and night temperatures remained above the seasonal average. Daytime temperatures in most parts of Kashmir were 2–3°C higher than normal, while Jammu recorded deviations of 1–3°C.
Night temperatures in both regions were also unusually warm, ranging from 1–6°C above normal. Gulmarg registered the lowest minimum temperature at 11.6°C, followed by Banihal at 15.6°C.
