Militants attack army vehicles in Poonch

Suspected militants fired at army vehicles in Khanetar area of Poonch district.

As per multiple reports reaching The Kashmiriyat, on Friday evening, vehicles of the Indian Army were fired upon by militants in the Khanetar area of Poonch district.

Forces have been rushed to the spot, as per the reports.

A report from Republic TV claimed that militant targeted an Indian Army convoy, including the Commanding Officer’s vehicle, with two rounds of bullets fired from a hilltop.

In response to suspected movement in Khanetar, Poonch, security forces engaged in gunfire, prompting increased search operations in the area.

The attacks comes weeks after a vehicle of Indian army was attacked by militants in the Bafliaz area of Poonch, leading to six casualities of the Indian army.

On 21 December, five army troopers were killed and two others injured in a militant attack in the Surankote area of Poonch district.The ambush had involved heavily-armed militants targeting an army gypsy and a truck, resulting in casualties and stolen weaponry.
