At least four Militants on Wednesday managed to escape during a cordon and Search operation launched in the orchards of Heff Shermal area in Zainapora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Officials told The Kashmiriyat that 44 RR of Indian Army, 23 PARA, 14 BN of CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police jointly launched a cordon and search operation in the orchards of Heff and Shermal areas following an input about Militant movement in the area.
During the cordon, the holed up Militants opened fire upon forces, triggering an exchange of gunfire.
After, the initial contact, however, no contact has been established as of yet.
Sources informed The Kashmiriyat that no firing has been heard from the past 45 minutes, and it is likely that the Militants have escaped from the spot.
However, the search operation is still on.
