The Jammu Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed that the militants killed the Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader in Budroo area of South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) District.
Police as per a statement said that the militants barged inside the residential house of Hafezullah Mir at Budoora Achabal and fired indiscriminately at him.
“In this incident, Hafeezullah sustained critical gunshot wounds and was evacuated to a nearby hospital where he succumbed.”
Mir was district president of the pro-freedom organization Tehreek e Hurriyat led by Geelani.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of law and initiated investigation in the matter, it added.
Meanwhile as per reporters Mir Hafeezulah had been receiving threats through phone calls, He had warned that if anything ‘untoward’ happened to him, the government would be responsible for it.
