Mirwaiz Umar Farooq likely to be allowed to address Friday congregation today: Anjuman

The chairman of Hurriyat conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is likely to address Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid Srinagar today.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq will be allowed to offer Friday prayers at Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid after 4 years of house arrest, reported PTI quoting Anjuman e Auqaf Jamia Masjid Srinagar.

Mirwaiz e Kashmir, Molvi Umar Farooq was out under house arrest on August 04, 2019, a day before the central Government abrogated the special status of Jammu Kashmir under articles 35a and 370.

Pertinently, such claims have been made in the past too, however, after having announced itz the authorities did not allow Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to move out of his residence.

One of his close associate speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that they have not received any official notice regarding the same. “No official has reached us as of yet to inform of any change from the present status of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq,” said his close associate.
