The Jammu Kashmir admin has imposed a ban on a health supplement containing lysine and zinc, combined with B-complex syrup, as it has twice failed quality tests, according to a report by The Tribune.
The Drugs and Food Control Organization, following a declaration that a sample of the syrup was both “misbranded and unsafe” on February 24, has strongly advised individuals to cease using the Corvit-M supplement.
This sample was subjected to analysis at the Food Analyst National Food Laboratory in Ghaziabad by the Drugs and Food Control Organization of Jammu Kashmir.
The health supplement, marketed under the trade name Corvit-M and manufactured in Samba, faced scrutiny after being found to be substandard and potentially hazardous.
The manufacturer, M/S Ravenbhel Healthcare Pvt Ltd, located in Kartholi, Bari Brahamana, and the Life Care Pharmacy in Srinagar, received notices in this regard.
In an attempt to challenge these findings, the drug manufacturer lodged an appeal before a designated official. Despite sending a new sample to the Referral Food Laboratory in Kolkata for additional analysis, the material was once again deemed to be unsafe, reinforcing the concerns raised by the initial tests.
