‘Missed my Exams After Being Forced to Stop, Stand in Queue by Forces’-Female Student from Pulwama Alleges

Amid Heightened patrols and security movement in the Kashmir valley in the aftermath of the twin Militant attacks in Srinagar, a student has alleged that she missed her exams after being stopped by Government Forces for checking in the Kadalbal area of Pulwama

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat over the phone, Rouqai Rashid, a resident of Awantipora in Pulwama District she said that she and her cousin were forced to stand in a queue and made to wait for a long time when they were on the way to attend the Service Selection board exams for class 4 posts.

“I along with my cousin left home at 10 am to appear in the exams at Government Degree College Pulwama, but on the way, we were stopped by the Government forces at Kadlabal in Pulwama,” Roquai said,

The Government Forces stopped the cousins unnecessarily and were forced them to stand for about half an hour unnecessarily, Rouqai alleged.

“We told them we have an exam but they were very aggressive. They verbally abused my cousin and asked us to stand,” she said

Due to the delay, Roquai missed her Jammu Kashmir Service Selection Board exams. Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, she said, “I was 10 minutes late because of the hindrance that Armed Forced caused. The invigilator stopped me from entering the exam room”.

Rouqai has appealed to the authorities to consider her case and ensure that other students don’t miss their exams because they are stopped on the way and made to stand’.

The IG of Jammu Kashmir Police Vijay Kumar recently said that the Police have enhanced frisking, checking to stop the movement of militants in the city in view of recent militant attacks.

The Inspector-General of Police, CRPF, Srinagar Sector, Charu Sinha said that be it frisking or any measure, it is all a precautionary measure.
