
The Meteorological Department has forecast an improvement in weather conditions till January 3, while predicting moderate to heavy snowfall in the higher reaches of Jammu Kashmir between January 3 and 6.
The snowfall period could potentially extend between January 4 and 6.
Mukhtar Ahmad, Director of Meteorological Department, told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that light snowfall may occur in isolated areas of Jammu and Kashmir between January 1 and 2.
The period from January 4 to 6 is expected to bring light to moderate snowfall across several areas of the Kashmir Valley and scattered parts of the Jammu region.
A cold wave is also likely to persist in isolated areas on December 30 and 31.
He urged tourists, travelers, and transporters to exercise caution during this period, particularly in light of sub-freezing temperatures, icy road conditions, and possible snowfall. [KNT]
