Mother of Two Commits Suicide by Shooting Herself: Leaves a Note Addressed to PM Modi

On Friday morning, a woman named Mona Dwivedi (30) shot herself with a gun at her home in Vidyapuram Colony in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.

The deceased, a mother of two, also left behind a 3-page note addressed to the PM Modi, in which she urges him to “ensure the safety of women in their houses.”

The reports claim that at around 10 a.m., Mona locked herself in her room and shot herself in the chest with the country made weapon.

As per a report by The Times of India, on hearing the gunfire, all the female members of the family rushed to her room and found her lying in the pool of blood.

She was immediately taken to a hospital, where she was declared ‘brought dead.’ Mona had sent the 3-paged note to her family members on their cellphones.

The note has been doing rounds on social media platforms. In the note, addressed to PM Modi, she has urged the PM that he ensures women’s safety at their homes.

Mona has accused two brothers-in-law, Ambuj and Pankaj, of pushing her to take this extreme step.

Mona’s letter reads, “Ambuj and Pankaj, who are connected with the ruling party, beat me up as I belong to a poor family. My mother died in my childhood and my father is an alcoholic. They threatened to kill me if I narrated my plight to anyone.”

Mona has also stated that she was married off when she was 16. She was tortured by the in-laws, consistently.

She has written that out of the fear that her husband would abandon her, she could not take any step against the brothers-in-law.

The Police has said that as per the initial inquiries, Mona died by suicide due to family dispute and that her brothers-in-law often made sarcastic remarks against her.
