Municipal Elections- 177 Seats have No Contestants, 215 have Just 1 Candidate

The Kashmir urban Local body polls have been worth watching as they happen amid high political drama and a massive unrest.

Figures available to The Kashmiriyat have revealed that out of the total 634 Municipal wards in the valley, no candidate has filled Nomination papers for 177 municipal wards while a single candidate has filed nomination papers for 215 wards.

The Voting for the ULB Polls will be conducted on the 8, 10, 13 and 16, of October, while the filing of nomination papers for the four-phase municipal polls has ended on Tuesday.

All the 177 Wards where no candidates have filled no nomination papers are located in South Kashmir region. (The Kashmiriyat)
