Prominent Muslim clerics organized a ‘Tahaffuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat Conference’ at Khanqah-e-Ashrafia Hussainia near the Dargah of famous Sufi saint Syed Makhdum Ashraf Jahangir Ashrafi in Ashrafpur Kichhauchha town of Uttar Pradesh’s Ambedkar Nagar district on Thursday.
They called for the formation of a law to curb insulting remarks being made against Prophet Muhammad and the Quran.
”We are ready to give every kind of sacrifice to pass the ‘Tahaffuz-e-Namoos-e-Risalat Bill’. No Muslim in the world can tolerate any insulting comment or activity made against the prophet.” Islamic organisation Raza Academy chief Mohammad Saeed Noori said at the conference.
In a joint statement, Noori and Maulana Moinuddin Ashraf Ashrafi said that the government should form a law to punish people who ”insult” the prophet. ”He is continuously being insulted in the country and Muslims remain patient. So, the government should interfere in the matter,” they added.
Raza Academy along with other organisations have been running a campaign to gather support for their demand to form the aforementioned law. It has approached the governments of Maharashtra and Rajasthan and asked them to pass the law in their respective assemblies.
