Tabasum Shaikh, who was a victim of Hijab controversy raised by right wing hindutva men in Karnataka has secured the second rank in the Karnataka PUC exam.
Last year, Karnataka was marred by riots over the hijab after some students in rural Karnataka expressed concern over students wearing Hijab to the college. The Muslim students protested demanding that they should be allowed to wear Hijab to the classes.
Later, the Karnataka High Court ruled that hijab and burqa are not required in educational institutions and the dress code of the educational institution is sufficient.
Many female students protested in the streets wearing burqa and hijab.
Tabassum also secured 100 out of 100 marks in Hindi, Psychology and Sociology.
