Muslim Man Beaten by Bajrang Dal Workers while Traveling with Buffalo in Jharkhand

On Sunday evening, Mohammad Sultan (38) was brutally attacked by Bajrang Dal members in Barkagaon in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district while traveling with a buffalo, Maktoob Media reported.

In the latest Maktoob Media report, a family member of the victim Sadique says that Sultan had attacked while traveling with a buffalo he had bought.

“They (assailants) are Bajrang Dal workers,” Sadique was quoted in the report.

The village chief, Chandrika Kumar Sah, of Napo village where Sultan was beaten told the reporter that Sultan and his friends were traveling with buffaloes, adding, “A few days ago, some pets were stolen in the village. So, the assailants accused Sultan of stealing. That was a misunderstanding. The matter is now in the police station.”

The report says that the cop at Barkagaon police station denied the involvement of Bajrang Dal workers in the incident. He did say that the investigation was on.

It has not been yet confirmed by the police whether the incident was that of hate crime.
