Muslim youth assaulted for traveling in bus with Hindu girl in Karnataka

A Muslim youth was physically assaulted by a group of Hindu right-wing goons after he was seen traveling with a Hindu girl in a bus.

The incident occurred near the Nanthur area of Mangaluru in Karnataka on November 24 as photos appearing on social media show the victim being taken away by the police.

Another photo shows a blurred image of the girl and in the third photo, the victim can be seen in the middle of the group as he was apparently being thrashed. The attackers have been identified as members of Bajrang Dal.

Meanwhile, the ADG of Police in Karnataka while retweeting the news said “appropriate action is being taken” regarding the incident.

An FIR has been registered at the Kadri police station.

“On Thursday, Siyad was returning from Karkala in a private bus at 4 pm. Near Nanthoor junction, three to four unknown people entered the bus, abused him verbally and thrashed him. They also threatened him if he told anyone about the incident. The miscreants then dragged him out of the bus and beat him up with sticks,” the FIR read.
