Muslims of Kashmir will always stand with Kashmiri Sikhs- JK Ummat e Islami

Ummat e Islami Chairman, Qazi Ahmed Yasir on Monday said that Kashmiri Muslims and Sikhs and co-existed for decades and have always stood by each other through times and turbulence and agony.

In a press release issued to press, Ummat e Islami said, Referring to the alleged of Forcible conversions in Srinagar, Ummat e Islami chairman said, “If any such forcible conversion has happened, it is not permitted in Islam. The Muslim Community stands against any forcible conversion.”

He said that the two communities have always existed in harmony and whenever any situation of need has arouse, Sikhs have always stood by their Muslim counterparts. “After the attacks on Kashmiri students in the aftermath of Pulwama attack in 2019, the Sikh community opened the doors of their Gurdwaras to prevent the Kashmiri students, in 2014, 2016 and 19, Sikhs have always stood by Muslims of Kashmir.”

He said that in this hour of grief and anger, the Muslims of Kashmir stand with the Sikh community. “though there is not a lot of information available on the issue, but we have co-existed and will always continue to do so. Kashmiri Muslims will help as much as in their hands to help the community,” he said.

“I have received calls from many Sikhs since yesterday and i feel it is the outright duty of every Muslim to condemn such practices, wherever they happen. As a majority community in Kashmir, we need to safeguard our minorities, that is what Islam and Quran have directed us to do.” Qazi Yasir said.

He said that nobody should be allowed to take advantage of such incidents or allowed to fan communal fire in Kashmir. “Sikhs and Muslims have a deeper responsibility of not allowing anyone to use the situation for their political/ religious or electoral gains.” he said.

At least 100 Muslim clerics associated with Ummat e Islami have expressed their support to the Sikh community and said they will always stand in active support of the community
