Naveed Jatt Not Among Militants Arrested in Srinagar

After a brief exchange of gunfire near a police barricade in the outskirts of Srinagar, near Narbal area on Monday, three people were arrested by the police.

One person in the vehicle was injured in the retaliation gunfire from the government forces, while two others have been taken into custody by the police.

As per the sources the three militants who have been taken into custody are identified as Aqib Dhobi, Zahid Rather and Tariq Sheikh, who are all from South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

While as rumors on social media said that Naveed Jatt, a Lashkar-e-Toiba commander was arrested. A senior police official denied the reports of Naveed Jatt being one among those arrested.

As per reports a car was signaled to stop by a Naka party. The persons traveling in the vehicle fired upon the police personnel at the Naka. The cops returned the fire triggering off a brief shootout, in which one person was injured.

Police sources also confirmed that ammunition and grenades were recovered from the vehicle.
