The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) yet again on Tuesday claimed that the National Conference wants to change the name of Shankaracharya and Hari Parbat Hills in Kashmir.
During a press conference in Jammu, BJP candidate for Nagrota, Davendra Singh Rana claimed that nobody can change the names of these hills till the BJP is in power. The statement has stunned some National Conference leaders.
National Conference leader Imran Nabi Dar told the news agency Kashmir News Trust accused the BJP of having no meaningful issues to discuss and relying solely on playing the religious card.
Pertinently, Takht-e-Suleiman and Koh-i-Maran are also the names given by the people to these two hills in Kashmir.
National Conference leader said that it is an immaterial issue and people are least bothered about it. “Changing names of places is the hobby of BJP. People want jobs, a better standard of living, development, peace and prosperity. Communalism and polarization only add to the hardships and such issues don’t bring the bread and butter to the doorsteps of the people,” he said.
