‘New Land Laws will Further Internationalize Kashmir Issue,’ Says Saif u Din Soz

The Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Prof Saifuddin Soz on Wednesday said that the people will defeat the Centre’s design to settle outsiders in Jammu Kashmir.

“If India’s National Opposition does not intervene in Jammu Kashmir, the people will be forced to raise their voice for intervention by the International community to correct the social and political malaise created by the Central government”, he said in a statement here this afternoon.

He said the Centre does not understand that while the people of J&K state had accepted Maharaja Hari Singh’s Deed of Accession to India through which they acceded to India, but did not merge with India like other states.

“The Central Government abrogated J&K Domicile laws abruptly and unilaterally. If the Centre does not withdraw the J&K adaptation of Registration of Central laws, order 2020, which allows outsiders to buy land in Jammu Kashmir State, there will be a strong reaction to this action of the in J&K.”

He alleged the Union Government’s order is atrocious and provocative and if this law is not withdrawn forthwith, the people of J&K State will raise their strong voice which will be heard throughout the world.

The situation will further internationalize the Kashmir issue. There is resentment against the Centre in Jammu also where people feel the threat of outsiders settling in Jammu Kashmir and they also feel that Kashmir is immune to these threats.

India’s National Opposition would be well advised to intervene and correct the malaise and terrific mess created by the Centre.

They would also be well advised to open negotiations with Kashmir Peoples’ Alliance leadership to appreciate the latest political scenario in J&K State, Soz said.
