New Satellite Images Show China’s ‘Military Build-Up’ on Indian Border

Recent satellite images showcase new Chinese structures near the Line of Actual Control (LAC), in Galwan Valley.

The images show bunkers, tents, and storage units for military hardware, All of which were not visible in the particular area last month.

These images were published while both nations hold talks to De-escalate tensions.

An Indian defence analyst, Ajai Shukla, tweeted about the presence of “A large Chinese camp in the Galwan Valley, 1.5 km into the Indian side of LAC”

 

Clicked on June 22, 2020, these new satellite images, are from space technology company Maxar.

An Indian diplomat & an expert in Ladakh affairs, P Stobdan, told the BBC that the images “show that the Chinese have built infrastructure and have not retreated”, and he called the construction “worrying”.

Although Dr Long Xingchun, president of the Chengdu Institute of World Affairs (CIWA) think tank, said that India and China would be able to reduce tensions, he did agree on both the nations having “no mutual recognition of the Line of Actual Control.”

For now, both nations have not yet commented on these images.
