Nine tourists were injured in a road accident at Nepora along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Qazigund, south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials said on Thursday.
An official told The Kashmiriyat the accident involved multiple vehicles carrying tourists. “The collision occurred near Nepora, and nine tourists sustained injuries. Police and rescue teams reached the spot immediately to assist the victims,” he said.
The injured have been identified as Vikram Kumar, 39, son of Deva Ram from Rajasthan; Avala Krishna Chaitanya, 28, son of Avala Bala Nagendra Krishna Murthy from Andhra Pradesh; Aftab, 46, son of Mohd Vaseen Saray from Uttar Pradesh; Shanbo, 38, son of Vakano from Mumbai; Khota, 38, son of Maiy Ram from Rajasthan; Ramlal, 40, son of Shamlal from Mumbai; Vabak Kumar, 39, son of Vinod Kumar from Mumbai; Anil Kumar, 34, son of Ray Kumar from Kalwa, Mumbai; and Rahul, 35, son of Rashpal from Rajasthan.
A police officer confirmed that all the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital. “The tourists received immediate medical attention, and their condition is stable. Further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway,” he said.
Authorities have urged commuters to drive cautiously, especially along accident-prone stretches of the highway.
