No let up in South Kashmir Militancy, Engineering student, three including scholar join ranks

A day after Aqib Nazir, son of Nazir Ahmad Chopan, an engineering student belonging to Padder Pora area of Shopian district also joined militant ranks, three more youths including a scholar from South Kashmir’s Anantnag district have released their photographs carrying guns on social media about which police says they are verifying the authenticity of the photographs.

A scholar identified as Zubair Ahmed Wani, Son of Mohammed Afzal Wani, a Resident of Dehruna Anantnag has posed with a Gun on social networking.

A relative of zubair said that zubair has pursued M.Phil from Dehradun Colllege and was now preparing from teacher examinations.

He added that Zubair is survived by 3 Sisters, a Younger Brother (labour by profession) and old Aged parents.

He added that among three sisters two are married however among the two one is widow with two childs as her husband died recently left behind.

Mohammed Ishaq, cousin of zubair said that on Thursday 3 pm zubair said that I am going to Srinagar to visit a friend and I will be back after taking part in teacher examinations on Saturday.

He added that on Friday afternoon after watching his photo while carrying gun shocked us all.

“We had never thought he will join militant ranks because he didn’t show such inclinations,” he said, adding that they tried to reach him on phone but his phone was put on switched off mode and his joining has left his relatives and friends Shocked.

Notably Army officials confirmed that Zubair has joined Militant ranks.

He has been given a code name of Mawiya as per photograph that has gone viral.

Another youth Umer Ah Mir son of Ali Mohammad Mir resident of Berthipora Shopian has released his photo on social networking sites while carrying Ak 47.

As per viral photograph his code name is Abu Dujana.

Another youth namely Muzamil Ahmad Magray son of Mohammad Afzal Magray resident of watoo Manzgam kulgam has also released his picture while carrying gun on social networking sites. His code name as per photograph is Rizwan.

Youth announcing their joining into Militant ranks through photos on Social Networking has become a trend in Kashmir.

After the Ist April Encounters in South Kashmir, more youth are announcing their entry into Militant Ranks.

On 10th of this month, a youth identified as Tariq Ali Sheikh, resident of Mool Chitragam area in Shopian area of South Kashmir joined militant ranks as the youth also released a photo on social media, carrying an AK 47 assault rifle.

On 14th of this month, another youth identified as Khalid Farooq Malik, son of Farooq Ahmed Malik, resident of Alyalpora has joined the militancy as he also released his photo carrying a rifle.

On 15th of this month, an Army trooper performing his duties at 12th JAKLI also joined militant ranks after which he released a picture on social media in which he was holding an AK assault rifle. A dat alter Hizbul Mujahedeen confirmed his entry into the organisation.

On same day, a youth identified as Sameer Ahmed Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, resident of Ayend Amshipora also released his picture on the internet holding an AK-47 rifle.

In current month, Mohammad Owais Malik, resident of Arwani Bijbehara also released his photograph brandishing an AK-47.

A youth identified as Aadil Ahmed Dar from Kakapora area has also released his photograph on social networking sites while carrying two AK 47 rifles.

Moreover, one youth from Kakapora area who was pursuing Masters in Earth Sciences at University of Kashmir is missing from the last one month.

Many More youth from South Kashmir Districts including 3 Missing from Pulwama, 2 From Kulgam, 1 from Islamabad’s Braed Angan as reported by The Kasmiriyat are likely to have joined Militant groups.

Post the encounter of Burhan wani on 08 July, 2016, South Kashmir has turned into the epicenter of what many call as ‘New Age Militancy.’
