Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei reaffirmed on Sunday that the Islamic Republic will never surrender to U.S. demands, stressing that Washington’s hostility stems from its desire to see Iran “obedient”, an expectation he called “insulting and unacceptable.”
Speaking in Tehran, Khamenei dismissed the idea of direct negotiations with the United States, noting that American aggression against Iran has been unrelenting since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. He underlined that Iran’s independence and resilience have repeatedly frustrated U.S. and Israeli attempts to weaken the nation.
Referring to the June 13 Israeli and U.S. attacks on Iranian facilities, Khamenei revealed that Washington’s proxies even met in Europe to draft plans for a “post-Islamic Republic” order, including proposals to restore monarchy. These schemes, he said, collapsed in the face of Iran’s unity and the strength of its institutions.
“The Iranian people and the Islamic Republic have foiled every plot, past and present, aimed at undermining this nation’s independence,” Khamenei said, urging citizens to maintain solidarity and support President Masoud Pezeshkian against foreign meddling.
He condemned Israel’s ongoing massacre in Gaza, criticized Western states for enabling the bloodshed, and praised the Yemeni resistance for their actions against Tel Aviv, calling them a just response to occupation and war crimes.
Khamenei emphasized that while Iran seeks peace and cooperation with nations worldwide, it will never compromise its sovereignty or Islamic values under foreign pressure.
Relations between Tehran and Washington have been severed since 1979, with the U.S. continuing to impose harsh sanctions. Yet, despite decades of economic warfare and military threats, Iran has remained steadfast — a testament, Khamenei said, to the strength of its people and the justice of its cause.
