Nocturnal encounter breaks out in Pulwama area

An encounter has started between militants and Government forces in the Chatapora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday night a joint group of RR,  CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about militant presence in Chatpora area of Pulwama, launched a cordon and search operation.

The hiding militants opened fire on the troopers during the cordon, triggering an encounter. 2-3 militants are believed to be trapped in the area.

As per locals, intermittent exchange of gunfire is going on at the site of the encounter.
