Nocturnal Encounter Rages in Shopian Area

An encounter has started between militants and government forces in the Check e Sidiq Khan area of Imam Sahib in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

An official told The Kashmriyat that on Sunday evening a joint team  34 RR of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Check e Sidiq Khan area of Shopian’s Imam Sahib belt.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.

As per the initial reports, two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
