Lack of parking space continues to trouble residents of the Baramulla town. The problem is increasing with each passing day due to steady rise in the number of vehicles.
Residents rue the absence of parking space on the 4 km stretch from Khanpora to Khawajabagh, Baramulla.

They complain that heavy fines are imposed by the police for parking vehicles along the road even when they do not obstruct the traffic.
Peerzada Arif Nabi, a resident of Binner village of Baramulla, while talking to The Kashmiriyat expressed his anguish over administration’s deep sleep on the long pending demand of parking. He said, “It seems our administration is not taking this matter so seriously as the Baramulla town is one of the biggest district towns of Jammu Kashmir. Commuters have to suffer as they don’t find any portable car parking site in the town.”
“We appeal that the higher ups look into the matter deeply and seriously so that we, the people of Baramulla, do not have to suffer any more”.
Commuters have to park their cars along the roads due to lack of parking space. Nasir Ahmad Malik, another resident, said that there was not a single parking lot in the town. Shopkeepers, too, are critical of police action as it affects their business.
The Kashmiriyat contacted the elected Municipal Committee President of Baramulla, who told us that the problem of parking would be resolved soon as he has taken up the matter with the concerned Deputy commissioner of the district.
“Very soon we’ll have a parking area in Baramulla town. Presently, there’s no such space to cater to people’s needs. Work on the project will start in the coming days,” he added.
