A day after three militants were killed in an encounter at Sumlar and Aragam forests, security forces on Sunday afternoon launched a cordon and search operation in Chittibandey village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, officials said.
Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that a joint team of Army, Police and CRPF cordoned off the village after inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
They said that all the entry and exit points in the village have been sealed.
Pertinently, the village is adjacent to the Aragam forest area, where two militants were killed after they gave slip to forces in the Shok Baba forest area and reached Aragam forests.
According to officials, one militant was killed in Shok Baba forests, taking the toll to three.
They said that search operation in Shok Baba forests is still in progress to rule out the presence of more militants in the area—(KNO)
