Taking stock of the “oil shortage” across the Kashmir valley, the Department of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Thursday conducted several checks in the region.
A top official of the Department speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that the officials conducted several market checks in the south Kashmir districts and found there was no shortage of oil at all.
The official ridiculed the allegations and said several petrol pumps had a shortage of oil, however, it was primarily due to the non-functioning of Jammu Kashmir Bank services. “During our day-long checks to scores of fuel stations, we did not find any shortage of fuel anywhere,” the official said.
The Department has asked people to not pay any heed to the rumors.
Meanwhile, the State Level Coordinator, Oil Industry Jammu Kashmir (OIJK) has reiterated that there was no shortage of Petroleum products across Jammu Kashmir.
“This is to confirm that there is no shortage of Petroleum Products like Motor Spirit (MS), High Speed Diesel (HSD) in entire Jammu Kashmir,” Anjani Kumar, State Level Coordinator, Oil Industry Jammu and Kashmir said, in a statement issued to the press.
