Officials mark over 75,000 Kanal of land ‘state land’ in Shopian district, details here:

Officials in the Shopian district of south Kashmir have marked over 75,000 Kanals (9374.999 acres) of land under various categories of state land in the south Kashmir district.

Documents accessed by The Kashmiriyat show that 5453 patches (units) of land marked by the revenue officials in Shopian have been “encroached” upon by people and are being used for agricultural purposes, and schools, among other purposes. The data shows more than 1799 patches of land are vacant in the Shopian district of south Kashmir.

The Jammu Kashmir administration led by Manoj Sinha has ordered the removal of all “encroachments” in Jammu Kashmir over the state land by January 31. Various drives are being conducted by the administration in nooks and corners of the valley removing and warning people who have occupied state land.

A revenue official from the Shopian district said that the eviction drive has not started i Shopian revenue tehsil as of yet in the south Kashmir area, due to the snow. However, on Wednesday, land measuring 12 Kanals situated at Village Daramdoor recorded as State Land and land measuring 2 Kanals recorded as Kahcharie situated at Diaroo were retrieved.

On Wednesday, the revenue officials issued notices in three areas of Kashmir valley (Boniyar, Uri, and Dooru) asking the residents to vacate the state land within three to seven days. “Vacate from the state land within three days or action will be initiated against you,” a revenue official in the Uri area of north Kashmir warned people.

A detailed breakdown of the data from Shopian shows 76696 Kanals fall under the various categories of state land including Banjar e Qadeem, Aab e Awal.

Officials claim that in Harmain 907 K, 7 Marla, Abalwuna 90K, 9 M, Nildoora 103 17 M, Landroo 12 K 7 M, Chotigam 24 K 12 M, Gahind 136 K 11 M, Kharwara 82 K 19 M, Cheke Sidiq Khan 281 K 16 M, Chakoora 147 K, 15 M, Kanhama 4 K 5 M, Nahisharan 333 K 14 M, Haji pora 21 K 8 M, Chek e Cholland 206 K 7 M, HS Pora 34 K 13 M, Reshipora 11 K 6 M, Padderpora 24 K 18 M, Wangipora 15 K 16 M, DK Pora 96 K 17 M, Aloora 125 K 1 M of the total land is state land.

Shopian’s Chitragam has a total of 7, 500 Kanals of land marked by officials under various categories of state land- Chitragam 423 K 4 M, Gundarvesh 2 K 11 M, Urpura 23 K 10 M, Homhuna 215 K 12 M, Dachoo 34 K 11 M, Bandpahoo 4 Kanal, Darawani 21 K 11 M, Wadipora 18 K 9 M, Alishapora 30 K 10 M, Sugan 1206 K 18 M, Kashwa 61 K 11 M, Heffkuri 77 K 14 M, Dragad 21 K 2 M, Chedipora 21 K 7 M, Turkwangam 2704 K, 13 M, Maldeera 23 K 8 M, Aaripora 560 K  1o M, Heff 1275 K 7 M, Chillipora 715 K 13 M, Shirmal 63 K 7 M.

In Keller block over 9000 Kanals of land have been demarcated as state land.

In Imam Sahib, a total of 2619 Kanals of land have been marked as state land, 3650 Kanal in Zainapora, In Keegam  8447 Kanal and Shopian revenue block has over 42, 830 Kanal of land that fall under various categories of state land, officials claim.

Note: K- kanal and M is Marla– 1 Kanal is 0.125 acre and 20 Marla make up one Kanal
