Oil Tanker driver dies in Zojila road mishap

An oil tanker driver lost his life in a deadly road accident after his vehicle skidded off the road on the Srinagar-Leh highway near India Gate Zojila this morning.

A Police official told The Kashmiriyat that an Oil tanker bearing registration number PB08CP/0866 on its way from Srinagar to Kargil skidded off the main road and fell into a deep gorge near India Gate Zojila Pass after the driver lost control over the vehicle, resulting in the on-spot death of the driver.

He said that soon after receiving information a team of P/S Sonamarg along medical team from PHC Sonamarg reached the spot and launched a massive rescue operation in which one dead of recovered from the spot.

Identifying the deceased as Muzaffar Iqbal Son of Mohammed Iqbal a resident of Kewal Budhal district Rajouri, the official said that the dead body has been taken to PHC Sonamarg Sonamarg for further Medico-legal formalities.

Meanwhile, Sonamarg police have registered a case and started further investigations.
