The Sister of one of the two militants killed in a gunfight with Government forces on Tuesday in Galoora area of Handwara area of Kupwara was getting married today.

Liyakat Ahmad Lone (28) son of late Ghulam Mohuddin Lone had joined militant ranks on 8 July this year on the second anniversary of slain Militant commander Burhan Wani.

“Yesterday we were planning regarding the wedding and today we are going to collect his body,”a family member told The Kashmiriyat.

He said that Liyakat had not called or contacted home after he left home and joined Militancy.

Locals informed The Kashmiriyat that Liyakat was father to three children who were left in disbelief over the news that their father had joined Militancy.

“Who will take care of his orphans now, they are left deserted,” the family member said.

Earlier, police and army claimed to have killed the two militants in a gunfight at Galoora area of Handwara.

The militants have been unable to control territory, but the military and security forces have also been unable to bring security, as the civilian anger seethes continuously and more youth are picking up arms mostly targeting outposts and convoys.
