One Militant has been killed in a brief shootout in Khul, Ranipora area of South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) district on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
Sources told The Kashmiriyat that militant attacked a Minority Guard picket at Khul area after which forces launched a search operation and traced the Militants.
The hiding Militants opened fire forces injuring one cop of Jammu Kashmir Police and triggering a shootout in which one Militant was been killed.
Locals told The Kashmiriyat that massive gunfire was heard around the village of Ranipora at around 1:15 am for nearly half an hour.
Officials told The Kashmiriyat that some of the Militants escaped the gunfight site and now a search has been launched to nab the rest of the Militants.
The operation was jointly launched by 19 RR of Indian Army and SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police.
A local Militant identified as Bilal Ahmed Bhat from Yaripora area in Kulgam was killed in the brief shootout.
The search operation was going on when this report was filed.
