The government forces have killed an unidentified militant during an ongoing operation in the Billawar area of Jammu’s Kathua district, authorities said on Sunday.
The firefight, which began Saturday evening, also resulted in the death of a police head constable, while a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) and an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) were injured.
Officials reported that the operation resumed early this morning, leading to the militant’s death.
His body has been recovered from the scene. The operation is still active, with Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu, Anand Jain, overseeing the situation.
This incident takes place as the region prepares for assembly elections, with Jammu scheduled to vote on October 1.
