One Militant has been killed during the ongoing encounter that broke out between militants and government forces in the Batakot area of Pahalgam in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday morning.
Earlier an official told The Kashmiriyat that on Friday morning 3 RR of the Indian Army, 116 Battalion of CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police launched a joint launched a cordon and search operation in the Sirchand forest area of Pahalgam’s Batakot division.
During the cordon, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight, he said.
During the exchange of gunfire, one unidentified militant has been killed and the operation is still going on as more militants are believed to be trapped.
