
One militant has been killed during the ongoing encounter between militants and Government forces in the Panipora forest of Zaloora area in Sopore of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday, a joint group of Sopore Police, 22RR, 9PARA, 172BN, and 92BN CRPF after receiving inputs about militant presence in the Zaloora area of Sopore launched a cordon and search operation.
The hiding militants opened fire on the troopers during the cordon, triggering an encounter.
During the following exchange of gunfire, one Pakistani militant was killed while two more are believed to be trapped, officials said, adding, “2 Pakistani and one local militants has escaped from the cordon.”
They said that the search operation to find the three is still going on.
Meanwhile the IG of Jammu Kashmir Police, Vijay Kumar has said, As per the documents recovered from the killed Pakistani militant, he has been identified as Hanzalla of Lahore, Pakistan. One AK rifle, five magazines along with ammunition has been recovered.
