Online threat: Police conduct searches at different locations

The Jammu Kashmir police on Saturday said that a massive searches are being conducted at ten locations in Srinagar, Kulgam and Anantnag in connection with the threat issued to Journalists recently.

The Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet wrote, “Massive searches in connection with investigation of case related to recent threat to journalists started by Police at 10 locations in Srinagar, Anantnag and Kulgam. Details shall be followed.”

Police on Saturday carried out raids at different locations in connection with the ‘online’ threat to some scribes and employees associated with different media houses.

The raids were carried out in Kashmir capital Srinagar, and South Kashmir’s twin districts of Anantnag and Kulgam.
A threat purposely from militant outfit TRF had gone recently viral wherein the outfit had accused some Journalists and employees of taking sides and working for the police and Army. Police have already registered a case in this regard.
Media reports quoting Intelligence Agencies said that a Turkey-based Kashmiri journalist is behind this threat.

The Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet wrote that massive searches in connection with an investigation of a case related to the recent threat to journalists started by Police at 10 locations in Srinagar, Anantnag, and Kulgam. Police further said that details shall follow after the searches are over.
Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that searches were carried out in the houses of some Journalists who have in past worked with ‘Greater Kashmir’ and ‘Rising Kashmir’.

Searches were also conducted in the houses of those men affiliated with militant organizations, some of them are staying abroad. Sources added that some of the locations in Srinagar where searches were conducted include Rainawari, HMT, Nowgam, and Rangreith. [KNT]
